Magic! Art Activity
Specific Learning Outcomes:
APPRECIATION: Students will interpret artworks literally.
Learning Activity:
Have students draw images on their paper with wax crayon. For this lesson I had them draw images which they would see in the winter. Once them images are drawn with color, have them draw the snow with white wax crayon along a snowman also drawn with white. Once the image is drawn use watered down paint to paint across the paper. What will happen is the white crayon will appear as if magic over the watered down paint.
For my students I had them fold their paper into "hamburger folds" four times, this ensured that they had different colors of paint to mimic a sunset. I also carefully modeled the project before hand.
