The traditional classroom experience, involves the image of the teacher at the blackboard writing down the concepts and students taking notes. However if learning is going to progress and cater to 21st century learners, new teaching styles need to be incorporated. Interactive white boards such as the SMARTboard allows for this contemporary interaction.
As a future teacher learning about the program called Notebook allows me to foster an interactive classroom. This program lets me develop lessons at home that will incorporate the smart board. There are also pre made lessons which can be downloaded. The download provides a template which I can manipulate to cater to my outcomes for my lesson. In addition, the program adds to my creativity in the classroom since I can find innovative ways on the SMARTboard to represent the same information. Thus, catering to different learning styles in the classroom.
An example of how I would use the Notebook program would be in a science lesson to young students. I could formulate a dry lab where they could manipulate objects that for safety reasons they would not be able to in real life. In addition, more freedom could be applied since students could manipulate variables. However in the outcome there would not be a mess to clean once the lab is over.
My only struggle with this program is that by being so new it does take time to manipulate and have it work the way I intend. However I do believe that with practice learning the rules of notebook will be easier. Furthermore, it will depend on the lesson and the students since it can be distractive to some learning activities. With thoughtful use I do believe that I would be able to plan many lessons using Notebook.
