Using a spreadsheet program, data can be placed into a chart. Normally statistics of this kind are used for the traditional approach of grouping numbers for math and science. However a spreadsheet program, could also be used for statistics that are related to other subjects. For instance, in language arts when analyzing the emotions of a character. Students can plot the changing emotion of the character against the chapters in the book. After posting the data in the sheet, students can form a graph. This graph could help students who are strong visual learners. Where students would be able to see the main character’s changing emotion.
With all the integration of technology, there is the notion of how to manage it in the classroom allowing students to learn from the tool rather than be distracted from it. One of the problems I see is having cell phones in the classroom. I believe that this could be managed by having conversations and warnings for students who miss use technology. In addition, it is important to insure that teachers do not heavily rely on technology part of this stems from the reason that not all schools have technology in the classroom. Teachers can over come this by allowing students to have a choice to create projects that are not so heavy on technology.
